What Are Online Games?

คลิกเลย refer to electronic game playing that takes place over a computer network. These networks can be local, such as a private intranet or LAN, or they may be global, such as the Internet. In either case, the system connects players to a host computer that controls the game play and interacts with the players. The games themselves can be played as standalone games or they may involve multiplayer action. A number of companies offer these services, and some offer regular downloadable “patches” that add new game content, equipment, weapons, maps, or characters.

The earliest form of online gaming was called Multi-User Dungeon (MUD). It took advantage of some of the earliest computing technologies, such as ARPANET, the precursor to the Internet. MUD was designed by people in universities, and the game allowed players to connect to a central mainframe computer from their home computers and interact with other users of the system over text-based commands.

Online Game Development: From Concept to Launch

By the early 21st century, social media had given rise to a variety of Web-based online games, such as Zynga’s Mafia Wars and Farmville. These games typically feature simplified gameplay and cartoonlike graphics that appeal to a wide audience. Some of these games generate revenue through advertising or in-game purchases.

Another type of online game is the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). These games allow players to interact with thousands of other users in a virtual world where they can choose from a wide range of characters and situations. Most MMORPGs require a monthly fee to access the game software, and most also charge for frequent downloadable updates that add new maps, characters, weapons, equipment, or quests.
